The Best Mid-Size Inclusive Clothing Brands

If you’re a mid-sized lady, somewhere between US sizes 10 and 14, you know that shopping can be hard. Standard size garments are typically cut for a size small and then sized up to fit a larger body type. That means that even when standard brands carry in-between sizes, they are rarely cut to fit or flatter a mid-size woman’s curves. On the other hand, plus size lines are designed to highlight curves – but they typically only start offering clothes at size 14 or 16. So where are mid-sized gals supposed to shop?

If you’ve ever asked yourself this question, this article is for you! I’ve compiled a list of all of my favorite mid-size inclusive brands. From large, established brands down to exciting new inclusive startups, there’s bound to be something for you on this list!

1. Joanie Clothing

I have been obsessed with UK brand Joanie Clothing since I first stumbled across their Instagram a few months ago. If you love stunning vintage-inspired statement pieces like adorable slogan tees or flirty dresses, Joanie is the brand you’ve been searching for.

Their entire size range (US sizes 4-18) are included under the same product listing, meaning mid-size shoppers don’t need to search through standard and plus offerings to find their perfect fit. Remember that UK sizing is different than what we use in North America, so be sure to check the size guide!

2. Good American

I mentioned Good American in my How to be Body Positive as a Mid-Sized Woman post, but I feel like Khloe Kardashian’s curve friendly denim brand deserves a second mention!

Good American is not just talking about the problems mid-sized gals face – they’re actively working to make shopping easier for us. They’ve even created a new size – size 15, which is meant to bridge the gap between standard and plus sizes. Their site also has a model selector! You can view your new favourite pair of jeans on a size 0, 8, or 16 model to make sure you get the perfect fit.

3. ASOS

UK retailer ASOS has exploded in popularity in North America over the past few years – and with good reason! This site offers trendy pieces in a huge range of sizes meaning there really is something for everyone! ASOS carries a number of labels, meaning there’s even more mid-sized brands to choose from.

ASOS’s standard sizing goes up to a US size 14, while their plus sizes start at 12! This means mid-sized gals have an even bigger range of fashion to enjoy. They also offer some other fits like tall, petite, and fuller bust, meaning ASOS has clothes for all sizes and shapes.

4. Ava James NYC

Ava James was made for mid-sized girls… Literally! Their brand carries sizes from 8-18 that are meant to reflect “what the modern woman looks like today.” Ava James was one of the first mid-sized brands to gain popularity and it’s still going strong today. Scrolling their site and seeing so many beautiful mid-size models is an incredible feeling!

Ava James is the perfect place to shop for gorgeous cocktail dresses and elevated workwear. Their stunning garments are handmade by seamstresses in New York City, meaning their pieces are made to last a lifetime.

5. Karina Dresses

No matter what your size or shape, your Karina dress is guaranteed to be the most flattering one in your closet. Their dresses come in a wide range of classic cuts and patterns that are sure to make you want to twirl!

Torrid already got a shoutout in my last mid-size post, but I couldn’t resist adding them to this list too. Torrid is another amazing plus-size brand that’s expanded its range for mid-sizers as well!

11. Modcloth

You know there’s no way I could make another mid-sized post without mentioning Modcloth! They changed the game when they retired their plus size section in 2015, opting instead to include all sizes under the same listings.

Today, Modcloth carries a wide range of quirky, cute, and trendy styles up to a size 28, styled on a beautifully diverse group of models.

12. Amazon

Amazon might not be the first site to pop into your mind when you think about mid-sized brands, but you would be surprised at how mid-size inclusive Amazon can be! Since Amazon is a marketplace, it features hundreds of clothing labels on one affordable and easy-to-navigate website! Lately, I have been loving Amazon Essentials, Amazon’s own brand for elevated basics.

Amazon Essentials offers tops, bottoms, dresses, swimwear, and even undergarments in a super inclusive size range. On most items you can shop sizes XS to XXL all under one listing. Plus, if you have an Amazon Prime membership you can score free express shipping on your new outfit!

13. Unique Vintage

If I had a dollar for every hour I’ve wasted browsing Unique Vintage, I would probably have enough to own everything from their site. Don’t let the “vintage” scare you away – Unique Vintage’s vintage-inspired pieces can fit seamlessly into even the most modern wardrobes.
